Component choice

RIMS

Our rims are manufactured from high-quality Toray T700 carbon fibre, produced in Japan and providing an excellent blend of low weight and stiffness. The strength of carbon fibre lies along the length of each filament, so unidirectional fibre is used to maximise the benefits of the material’s tensile strength across the rim.

All rims are the latest U-shape design, proven to minimise the impact of cross-winds at all depths. The blunt leading edge ensures that airflow remains attached to the rim for longer, avoiding the shearing force that older, V-shaped rims would suffer from.

TUBELESS-READY CLINCHER

With the rapid improvement in tyre technology, the performance gap between high-end clincher and high-end tubular tyres is closing significantly. Puncture repairs are more straightforward with a clincher tyre, oh and did we mention they’re cheaper too?

All Parcours spoked wheels are also now tubeless-ready, with the rim profile shaped to include a deeper central channel for fitting and removal of tubeless tyres. The rim sidewalls use a hooked design to ensure an airtight seal.

HUBS

The centrepiece of the wheel, the hub acts as the anchor for the spoke tension. The radial force can easily exceed 2,000kg, creating a significant structural challenge. At the same time, the hub bearings will determine how smoothly the wheel rolls. And all of this at as light a weight as possible.

Our Parcours hubs provide what we believe is the best possible balance of stiffness, bearing quality and weight. CNC-machined from AL6061/T6 aluminium alloy, the hubs come in at 76g (F) and 208g (R)

SPOKES

Often overlooked, the choice of spoke has a significant impact on wheel stiffness, aerodynamics and weight. We exclusively use Sapim CX-Ray spokes, widely recognised as the market leader when looking to save every possible gram of drag. These are paired with lightweight anodised Sapim alloy spoke nipples.

LACING PATTERN

Spoke count is again a balance of stiffness against total weight and aerodynamic efficiency. All our Parcours wheels use a 20/24 spoke count (20 on the front, 24 at the rear), laced radially at the front and a 2-cross pattern at the rear.

For disc brake wheels, we use a 24/24 spoke count, with both wheels laced using a 2-cross pattern to ensure maximum stability under braking.
