How fast can you ride a 276km loop of London?
Last Tuesday, Ribble Collective and Parcours athlete Joe Laverick took on the challenge of circumnavigating London in a 9-5, attempting to beat the 7 hour mark.
The plan was to start and finish the 276km loop at our office in the Surrey Hills. From there, Joe would head south followed and supported by the Parcours team, heading counter clockwise and complete a 276km loop around the outer M25. This route would cross the Thames twice and take in many kilometres of home counties roads with the aim to complete in under 7 hours.
Before starting the challenge Joe said, "I've spent an awful lot of time planning the details of this bike, from equipment to wind tunnel testing it's been a fun project putting it all together. It's the first TT bike in my career that I've been able to choose every part, and it rides like a dream. I'm taking on this challenge knowing I have the best products available, now I just need the legs to work!"
However, what followed was an incredibly brutal ride ending in a hard crash which halted the challenge, but after 220km of riding in tough wind conditions and many Precision Fuel and Hydration gels consumed the effort was immense.
