Meet the all-new Grimpeur wheelset
Part of our model year 2025 update, our newest rim brake wheel is a re-invention of the Grimpeur. Taking from the original wheelset DNA, the new Grimpeur brings our #thinkwider technology to a rim brake wheel for the first time.
The all-new rim profile is 41mm deep but grows wider to offer a 29.5mm maximum external width and the same 22.5mm internal profile used across our disc brake line-up. The width at the braking surface is 27.9mm, ensuring compatibility with the latest rim brake calipers. The result of this is a modern take on rim brake design, catering to riders who are looking to run a wider tyre without the aero penalty they would have previously faced.

Extensive CFD testing has delivered a wheel that performs within 0.5W of the existing mid-depth Passista (56mm) wheelset when fitted with a 25mm tyre. However, when running a wider 28mm tyre, the Grimpeur actually outperforms the deeper rim design by a yaw-weighted average of 1.5W.
Despite the wider rim design, the new Grimpeur is also our first sub-1,300g wheelset - notable for delivering a light weight whilst retaining a steel spoke design.
Alongside this, for our 2025 range are also rolling out a new star ratchet drive mechanism across our premium wheelsets, meaning the Grimpeur will run on a 36T design offering a great balance between high engagement and durability. In contrast to many existing designs our design also allows for tool-free access to the hub shell bearings, simplifying service and maintenance.
The new Grimpeur wheelset shows our continued support for rim brake technology and is available to order now.
