The benchmark just moved: the all-new Strade
Today we are launching the new Strade, a ground-up redesign of the wheelset that changed how we think about road wheel design. We don't update products for the sake of it. For us to put a new version into the world, we need to see a meaningful improvement on what came before, and six years on from the original Strade, we finally knew we could make it better. The result is significantly lighter, optimised around modern tyres, and more relevant than ever to how riders actually ride.
Where the Strade started
When the original Strade launched in 2020, it challenged convention. Wheelsets at the time were built around identical front and rear rims, and we took a different view. Our research showed that the airflow each wheel faces is fundamentally different, so the rims should be too.

That thinking led to our differential rim design, pairing crosswind stability at the front with greater straight-line speed at the rear. It proved a point that still guides everything we build, which is that wider can be faster.
What's new
The headline change is weight. At 1,270g the new Strade sheds over 250g from the previous generation, making it the lightest steel spoke wheelset in our range. What matters is where that saving has come from, because none of it has been taken out of the aerodynamics.

The revised rim profile carries a wider 23.5mm internal width and has been optimised around a 30mm tyre, the width most road riders now run. It holds onto the aero efficiency, stability and durability that made the original a benchmark, and delivers all of it for considerably less weight. Completing the build is an updated hub with a 2:1 spoke lacing pattern, a titanium freehub body, and our proven Alpina Ultralite Aero steel spokes.

Designed around how you ride today
Tyres have moved on. Where 25mm was once the default, most road riders now sit at 30mm, and for good reason: lower rolling resistance, more grip, more comfort, and on the right rim, no aerodynamic penalty. Rather than design the wheel and let the tyre catch up, we built the Strade around a 30mm tyre from the outset. That means maximum aerodynamic performance in the setup riders are genuinely using, not the narrower configurations that flatter a wind tunnel number.
A wheelset for everyone
The philosophy behind the Strade hasn't changed. This was never a wheel built for one kind of rider, one race or one type of road. Whether you're lining up for a road race, chasing a personal best on a local climb, tackling rough roads or simply riding fast with friends, it is built to make every ride better.

As part of the Aerodynamics Lab range, the Strade comes with a Lifetime Warranty.
